ITV Emmerdale Serena’s connection to Dr Todd ‘exposed’ and fans will be floored

Emmerdale fans are convinced that newcomer Serena Sugden is hiding a dangerous secret

Fans of Emmerdale believe they’ve uncovered Serena Sugden’s secret.

Newcomer Serena (portrayed by Casey Al-Shaqsy) made her debut last week, offering support to a distraught Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) beside the lake.

The duo formed a connection, with Charity opening up about baby Leyla’s real paternity and Dr Caitlin Todd’s (Caroline Harker) recent extortion.

ITV soap watchers will recall that Charity’s nightmare culminated in a horrific sexual assault by Todd, who subsequently departed the village for fresh employment in Sheffield.

Following her assistance in helping Charity process her trauma, Serena ventured into the village to reconnect with her estranged family members. She established a connection with her cousin, Robert (Ryan Hawley), during Tuesday’s latest instalment (June 30), which is presently available to stream on ITVX, reports the Express.

Robert agreed to let Serena stay at Butler’s Farm for several days, shortly before the new arrival promised Charity that she wouldn’t reveal their lakeside chat to Sarah (Katie Hill).

Serena has made a favourable impact on villagers so far, but audiences now believe that she’s concealing a massive secret. Numerous fans suspect the latest Sugden may already be acquainted with Dr Todd, and could be orchestrating her vengeance in private.

“Reading about possible future plot lines and the possibility that Todd will be murdered. I wonder if the mysterious Serena Sugden could be part of Todd’s past. Could she be a person holding a grudge?” one viewer posted on a Facebook fan page.

Another speculated: “Serena could be the one that brings Dr Todd down. I don’t think Todd gets murdered if they carry on the storyline. Maybe Todd abused Serena as well, so there’s enough evidence to bring her down and prove what she is?”

A third chimed in: “Serena is a Sugden so she knows how to fight!”

Referring to Robert’s serial killer brother, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), another fan remarked: “Another mystery Sugden turns up. Look how that turned out with the last one.”

Viewers were taken aback to see Dr Todd return to screens on Tuesday, nearly three weeks after her previous appearance in the Dales. Charity’s devastated husband, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), showed up at Todd’s workplace to confront her after discovering what she had subjected Charity to.

“Is there a problem here?” Todd asked, with Mack responding ominously: “Yes, there is, Caitlin. And it’s not going away,” just moments before the credits began to roll.

This comes just days before the ITV soap launches a major new mystery. Forthcoming scenes will flash forward to a crime scene, unveiling the identity of a victim. Has someone met their untimely end, and what shocking sequence of events will lead to this revelation? Audiences won’t have to wait long to find out.
