A former Love Island and All Stars contestant has opened up about what really goes on behind the scenes
Former Love Island contestant Jessy Potts has revealed what truly goes on behind the scenes during Movie Night.
Jessy was on the ITV programme, which is presented by Maya Jama, in 2024. She made a comeback to the villa for Love Island: All Stars earlier this year.
She’s now revealed some juicy details about the show’s Movie Night, an event that invariably stirs up a storm as Islanders get to see clips of chats and incidents around the villa they might have missed, reports OK!
Although the broadcaster hasn’t officially confirmed its return yet, Movie Night usually follows Casa Amor, leading fans to speculate it could be on the horizon.
“The first time we had Movie Night, it was pure chaos,” Jessy confessed to Mecca Bingo. “That was wild.”
She continued: “It was just drama, drama, drama because it was the first time anyone had ever seen any of it back. So there were a lot of arguments and a lot of drama.
“The second time, there were still a lot of arguments, but it wasn’t as serious as it was portrayed. There was a lot of laughing, joking and taking the p*** out of each other at the same time, which obviously gets cut out because there are so many arguments as well.
“By that point, we were kind of like, ‘You know what? I said what I said, I stand by it,’ and you’re laughing and joking about it.”
Jessy went on: “But yeah, they’re always chaotic because the majority of the conversations being shown are things you probably didn’t know had happened. It’s a really weird experience to see people talking about you behind your back, but it’s funny at the same time.”
When questioned whether producers or anyone else has ever needed to intervene, she confirmed: “Yeah, a few times, they want the drama, they just don’t want it to be taken too far.”
Speaking about what surprised her most regarding villa life, Jessy revealed: “I think it’s so crazy to see the behind the scenes. I feel like that answer is so generic, but obviously you don’t see the areas of the villa that aren’t filmed.
“Like when you’re in the Diary Room, you don’t realise that it’s a small little webcam and you can’t see anyone. You’re just talking to a wall.
“And the Voice of God – I don’t think I’d really heard too much about that. There’s like a tannoy over the whole villa and that’s how the producers get you to come to the Beach Hut to do chats in the Beach Hut, and to get you to stop talking about things you shouldn’t be talking about.”
Love Island airs Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
