Couple charged with bestiality after ‘disturbing’ dog sex videos found

Phillip Babin, 28, and Hailey Mire, 34, were arrested in Louisiana and charged after police allegedly found disturbing videos of sexual acts involving a dog on their digital devices; Babin also faces child cruelty charges

A couple has been arrested and charged in a case of child cruelty and animal abuse.

In May 2026, Phillip Babin, 28, is alleged to have struck a child – his partner Hailey Mire’s daughter – in the face with a curtain rod, causing injuries. Following an investigation into the Louisiana couple, detectives obtained a warrant for Babin’s arrest on charges of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile. He was arrested on 15 May and later released after posting $50,000 bail.

As the investigation continued, detectives secured a search warrant for the home shared by Babin and Mire. During the search, they confiscated several digital devices believed to belong to Mire, 34, and Babin, which allegedly contained disturbing videos of sexual acts involving a dog.

Upon concluding the investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants for both Babin and Mire. On 17 June 2026, they were detained and processed on the warrants at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux, Louisiana, reports the Express US.

Babin was charged with 36 counts of sexual abuse of an animal in addition to his original charge of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile. His bail was set at $360,000.

Mire was charged with 47 counts of sexual abuse of an animal and obstruction of justice. Her bail was set at $520,000, according to Sheriff Craig Webre of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The press release stresses that the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Under Louisiana State Legislature guidelines, a criminal conviction for second-degree cruelty to juveniles “shall be imprisoned at hard labor for not more than 40 years.”

In Louisiana, bestiality charges are pursued under state animal cruelty and crimes against nature statutes. Depending on the circumstances and the severity of harm caused to the animal, a conviction may result in a felony charge, carrying prison sentences ranging from one to 10 years of hard labour and fines reaching up to $25,000.
