A fitness expert who collapsed and then fell into two comas over a one month period has suggested that the second experience revealed to him what his future would hold

A man who was in a coma twice over the course of a month has claimed he believes that the coma may have shown him his future.

Keenan Acton, 26, was attending a fitness event in October 2024 when he collapsed and starting suffering from total organ failure and brain swelling. He fell into the first of two comas.

During one of his comas, he started having a dream about himself and his wife, who, at the time, had two sons. In the dream, he was living in a big house by a lake with his wife, their two children, and twins.

Keenan, from Wrexham, Wales, admitted he remembers barely anything from the day of his collapse. Following said collapse, he was taken to the Heartlands Hospital where he was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis.

Rhabdomyolysis is a condition that is brought on by extreme physical exertion, and can be life-threatening in the worst case scenario. After being in one coma, which was medically induced, Keenan was brought out of it.

However, the situation worsened when Keenan suffered a cardiac arrest and fell into another coma after being resuscitated. Speaking to the BBC, he said he found himself in a hut that had an exercise machine.

He told them: “It was like the more I went on that, the more time I was given to continue living. I had a Garmin watch on my wrist and it was counting down from eight days. Every time it ticked a day off, that’s how long I believed in my coma that I had left to live.”

After he came out of his coma, Keenan was told he had been under for eight days. Whilst this was already spooky, more was to come. Following a full recovery, Keenan and his wife managed to get married.

They then decided to try for a daughter, but when they went for an ultrasound, they were told something that surprised both of them – they were expecting twins.

Keenan said: “We went for the scan and the lady turned around and she said, ‘oh, there’s two of them in there’. Of course, it ties into what I’ve seen in the coma. What was going on in my head at that moment in time was like, ‘this is magical’.”

Speaking about that occurrence in relation to the coma, he said: “I think it’s too much of a coincidence for me to not believe that was a look into the future and what was to come. I think you’ve got to experience it to believe it.”

Commenting on what happened in Keenan’s case to the BBC, clinical psychologist Pieter du Toit said that whilst science would say it was a “coincidence”, there were caveats.

He explained: “What I would say about our scientific understanding is that there are limitations…It’s all about what makes sense to the person, what’s helpful to us, rather than being right about something.”
