Sydney Sweeney, known for starring in Euphoria, The Housemaid and Anyone But You, could be back on our screens sooner than we think, but this time as the iconic 007
Rumours are flying that Sydney Sweeney could be cast as the next James Bond after one Hollywood star endorsed her for the role.
Director Paul Feig has suggested that blonde bombshell Sydney Sweeney should be the next person to play 007. In a new interview, the Bridesmaids director admitted he’d “rather Sydney be the next Bond” than a Bond Girl.
He told The Sun: “There have been some cool Bond girls, but come on, let her be the super-spy, she’s great. She’s one of the hardest-working people I know, so professional, so smart, so savvy. I think she’d be a good spy.”
Sydney herself has addressed the rumours and back in October 2025, the Euphoria star said: “I can’t…I don’t know. To be honest, I don’t know all the Bond rumours, but I’ve always been a huge fan of the franchise and I’m excited and curious to see what they do with it.”
Sweeney hinted that she was eyeing up a leading lady role: “I think I’d have more fun as James Bond.”
One role that the actress has secured is Kim Novak in the upcoming biopic Scandalous, but Kim herself has spoken out against her casting, saying she is “totally wrong”.
The Vertigo actress, 93, told The Times that Sydney “sticks out so much above the waist,” that she “would never have approved” and voiced concerns that the film will focus on her relationship with musician Sammy Davis Jr too much. The pair briefly dated back in 1957.
Novak said: “There’s no way it wouldn’t be a sexual relationship because Sydney Sweeney looks sexy all the time. She was totally wrong to play me.”
Kim is also very unimpressed with the film’s title and told The Guardian: “I don’t think the relationship was scandalous. He’s somebody I really care about. We had so much in common, including that need to be accepted for who we are and what we do, rather than how we look.”
Sweeney herself previously said: “I’m incredibly honoured to be bringing Kim to life. I mean, she is such an amazing actress. I think her story is still very relevant today in that she dealt with Hollywood and scrutiny with her relationships and her own private life and the control of her image and I think that for me, I relate to it in a lot of different ways.”
“I’m so excited. I’m like: ‘Oh my God. I’m going to meet Kim Novak.'”
