Zayn Malik forced to cancel major TV slot over worrying heart health concerns

Just hours before he was due to go onto the TV talk show, former One Direction star Zayn ended up having to pull out early so that he could see top-level doctors over his health

Zayn Malik has been forced to drop out of a major TV show, just hours before he was due to perform. He explained the reasoning why was to seek help regarding some potentially deadly health concerns.

Singer Zayn, 33, has been facing a series of health issues in recent weeks, after having been recently hospitalised for an unknown illness. Whilst he was on the road to recovery, Zayn has now had to come out of a major TV booking in order to focus on his health.

Sources close to the Pillowtalk singer admitted that he is “still working through” what is causing his health problems. As a result, millions of viewers who were set to see him perform will now not get the chance.

Page Six reported that Zayn had been due to appear on chat show legend Jimmy Fallon’s late-night chat show on Tuesday (April 21). However, insiders close to the star admitted that this would not be happening “due to doctor’s recommendations”.

The star, who shot to fame as a member of One Direction, had been due to promote his latest studio album Konnakol on Fallon’s show. But on Friday (April 17), the star mysteriously landed himself in hospital, as he took to social media to clairfy the situation with fans.

Writing in his Instagram story, Zayn shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed, clearly rather dazed and confused. “To my fans — thank you to all of you for your love & support now & always — been a long week and am still unexpectedly recovering,” he penned.

“Heartbroken that I can’t see you all this week,” he continued. “I wouldn’t be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding.”

Zayn would finish his post by going on to thank the staff at the hospital, including nurses and cardiologists looking into the situation, before signing off with “big, big love”. Following his hospital stint, a source said the Jimmy Fallon appearance had to be shelved so that he could be treated by “the No.1 cardiologist in the world”.

Currently, it is unknown what condition “Night Changes” star Zayn is in, as he refused to explain the full details surrounding his trip to the hospital. However, he had been due to have a packed schedule this week, having missed another gig at the Rough Trade Below music shop in New York on Monday (April 20).

The tour for his fifth studio album is also due to get underway in just a couple of weeks, with his first date confirmed to be the AO Arena in Manchester. His last trip is currently scheduled to be on November 20 in Miami, meaning a lengthy six-month tour to promote the album.

However, this is not the first time Zayn has had to pull the brakes on new tours. Back in October 2024, the star had been in the middle of a lengthy tour for his last album when his One Direction co-star Liam Payne tragically passed away; Zayn decided to temporarily delay the rest of the tour as a mark of respect to his former bandmate.
