EastEnders viewers have branded Max Branning ‘so predictable’ as they raged over his new affair storyline with Priya Nandra-Hart
EastEnders viewers have been left absolutely fuming after Max Branning embarked on yet another passionate fling with a Walford local.
The serial womaniser, played by Jake Wood, made his return to the square last year – and it’s safe to say he’s stirred up considerable chaos since. More recently though, he began a romance with Cindy Beale (portrayed by Michelle Collins).
The duo shared several steamy encounters initially, before matters intensified when Max came to Cindy’s rescue from a blazing vehicle. Following that dramatic moment, they made things official and committed to giving their relationship a genuine chance.
Yet this week, during the evening that would alter everything – an intoxicated Max found himself proposing to Cindy at Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and Ross Marshall’s (Alex Walkinshaw) nuptials.
During Wednesday’s episode (June 3), Cindy rejected his proposal, leaving Max devastated. Subsequently, he encountered a newly single Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) at the motor dealership, reports OK!.
As viewers are aware, Priya’s partner Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) departed the square last week following the completion of his mental health treatment. Yet in the most recent episode, eager to heal her wounded heart, Priya began flirting with Max.
Following their mutual confessions about their respective heartaches, events escalated between Max and Priya, with the pair seemingly ending up in bed together – much to viewers’ irritation.
Slamming the new affair storyline, one disgruntled person said on X: “Priya and Max was so predictable…” Another added: “Jesus Max! Can you not last 5mins without cheating.” A third then chimed in: “Max and Priya wtf is going on.”
Someone else declared: “I hate how they’re writing Priya like this – after everything she’s been through with Ravi she’s been 100% devoted to him.
“She’s made constant sacrifices both for Ravi and her kids – they’ve got through the darkest of times together and she’s fully committed to him and only him.
“Now all of a sudden – she’s making a play for Max despite seeing his failed attempt at a proposal for Cindy. I know Priya feels like she’s lost everything and she’s spiralling but she’s never been this desperate. What are the writers doing?”
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One.
