Police are searching for a 19-year-old man wanted in connection with a shooting at the US Consulate and have warned the public he is “armed and dangerous” while loose in the city

Toronto Police are on the hunt for a man linked to a shooting incident three months ago, urging the public not to approach him, while another individual has been charged with the murder of a police officer.

Zara Jabbi, 19, is sought in relation to a shooting at the US Consulate in March. The police have warned that he “is considered armed and dangerous.”

“If you see him, do not approach. Call 911 immediately,” they further cautioned.

An image of the 19-year-old has been circulated to aid in his capture.

He remains at large just hours before Toronto is due to host its inaugural match of the FIFA World Cup, with supporters from around the globe descending on cities throughout Canada and co-hosts Mexico and the US.

The police also expressed gratitude to the public for their support following the death of Constable Marc Pinizzotto.

Constable Pinizzotto was tragically killed in the line of duty on Thursday, June 11.

The constable was shot during the execution of a high-risk search warrant, part of a coordinated series of five warrants. During the incident, a suspect was shot by police and is currently hospitalised.

Nicholas Bennett, 19, of Toronto, will face charges of First Degree Murder in connection with the death of Constable Pinizzotto.

Jabbi remains at large, the police added.

Jabbi is wanted in relation to the March shooting at the US Consulate.

“We recognise there are many questions,” police said.

“Given the ongoing nature of the investigation, there are limits to the information we can provide at this time. We will share further updates as soon as we are able.”
